ABOUT HIGHLANDER BASKETBALL CLUB
Highlander Basketball Club is a nonprofit basketball club for girls entering 3rd-8th grade who live or attend school in the Mequon-Thiensville, WI School District. As a feeder program for Homestead Girls Varsity Basketball, our focus is to develop female athletes on and off the court with practice, skills sessions, team values, and a competitive game schedule.
HBC offers programming for young athletes.
3rd through 8th Grade:
PRACTICE AND DEVELOPMENT:
Teams practice twice a week and are offered optional skill and agility sessions at The Facility and Athlete Performance twice a week.
Age-based player development is led by a staff of quality coaches. Athletes will learn basic skills, and more difficult skills like running a full offense, at all age levels. Our philosophy is to offer athletes the chance to learn the most about basketball in a competitive setting as possible.
GAME TIME:
The season is split in two halves.
The first half of the season consists of league play at The Facility in Mequon, WI, with typically two games on either Saturday or Sunday. League play runs November-December. There is a winter break at the end of December.
The second half of the season is reserved for tournament play around the region and state. Tournament games are typically on Saturday or Sunday, and teams can expect to play anywhere between two to five games at a tournament, depending on the brackets and number of teams entered.
Grades 3-4 will be split into even teams for the full season.
Grade 5 will have a mix of even teams and A/B teams depending on the tournament.
Grades 6-8 will be split into A & B teams for the full season.
Playing time is dependent on each athlete's work ethic and positive attitude.
CLUB LIFE:
Highlander Basketball Club has a 20+ year history of developing top players, but also has a focus on family and community throughout the Club and Mequon-Thiensville. Athletes and families are invited to wear their Homestead red with pride as we get to know new players and families each year.
Every fall, HBC hosts a full Club fundraiser for players and families. Teams rely on carpooling. Coaches treat your girls like their own. We are a Club and a family unit. We welcome you to HBC with open arms and laced-up sneakers.
